MA hospital employs Google Glass to increase efficiency

BOSTON, Mass (CNN) – Doctors at a Boston hospital have a new tool in their ER, Google Glass. Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center started a pilot program last December.

The device helps doctors quickly access information like medical records and x-rays without a computer.

The glass uses quick response codes- like the ones you see on the side of cereal boxes- to access the information. Each patient has a unique code that’s posted outside of their room, and doctors scan it before entering.

Dr. Steven Horng, started Beth Israel’s program.

“The grand challenge of health IT has always been delivering the right information to the right person at the right time, and Google glass finally allows us to do that.”.

Google Glass is also being tested at other hospitals across the country.
