NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – The Pioneer Valley Transit Authority plans to eliminate some services and add others, and you can make your thoughts known during a meeting scheduled for Wednesday night.
The changes would have an impact on several routes serving communities such as Northampton, Springfield, Holyoke, Agawam, West Springfield, Westfield, Amherst, Chicopee, East Longmeadow, Longmeadow, Ludlow, and Wilbraham. They could include streamlining certain routes, adding or reducing weekend hours, and extending the hours that certain services are running.
An example of some of the proposed changes:
- Creation of new G5 Express line between Springfield and Enfield, where you can connect with CT Transit
- Elimination of the G1 “Sumner Express” route
- Elimination of the G19 Springfield/Chicopee route
- Hourly service on Saturdays will be added on the M40 Northampton/Hadley/Amherst route
People can make their voice heard at a public hearing Wednesday evening from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Northampton City Council Chambers.
