Holyoke Police investigate a shooting on Elm Street

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – The Holyoke Police Criminal Investigations Bureau is searching for whoever shot and wounded a man on Elm Street Wednesday night.

Holyoke Police Sgt. Philip McKay told 22News that an unidentified man in his 20’s suffered a single gunshot wound on Elm Street around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday.  The man made his way to a restaurant near Appleton Street where he called police.

Sgt. McKay had very little information, except to say that the victim was brought to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, and is expected to survive.

“This was not a drive-by shooting,” McKay said.

Police weren’t releasing a description of any suspects. It was unclear whether they had any details about the shooter.
