CHICOPEE, Mass (WWLP) – Senator Elizabeth Warren wants the Senate to pass the Paycheck Fairness Act, which would push for women to receive equal pay as men.
Warren’s speech came after President Obama signed executive orders that will require federal contractors to submit pay data to the Labor Department.
Some people told 22News, whatever it takes, the wage gap between men and women must be eliminated.
“It’s a difficult battle. I mean the nation could not pass the Equal Rights Amendment a number of years ago, and it seems like such a basic thing that should’ve been passed.” said Ron Lussier.
The Pew Research Center said women make 84 percent of men’s pay. That means it would take 40 extra days for women to make what men make in one year.
