UConn bringing in extra police ahead of title game

STORRS, Conn. (AP) — The University of Connecticut says it will have extra police in place Monday night as the campus cheers the Huskies in the men’s basketball championship game.

More than 8,000 students watched from Gampel Pavilion on Saturday as the team upset overall No. 1 seed Florida at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. A similar crowd is expected Monday night as UConn faces Kentucky for the national title.

Twenty-six people were arrested in the celebrations on Saturday, including 15 students.

UConn spokeswoman Stephanie Reitz says extra state police and university security will be on campus Monday night and volunteer firefighter departments will be on call.
