Obesity rate increases in the United States

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A new Gallup study reveals the United States’ obesity rate jumped to 27.1% in 2013, which is the highest since Gallup began tracking six years ago.

The study also measured the latest obesity rates in communities across the country.

Here in Springfield, about 25 percent of residents are classified as obese.

The metropolitan area that includes counties in West Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio topped the list.

Boulder, Colorado remained the least obese area in the country, with only 12.4%.
