Springfield shootings latest

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Five people are in the hospital after three shootings in Springfield early Sunday morning.

22News spoke with Springfield Police Lieutenant Robert Moynihan. He said the first shooting took place at Lux night club, located on East Columbus Ave. and Worthington Street.  Moynihan said about 20 rounds were fired and four people were shot.

He told 22News police are looking for a green Cadillac that was seen making a getaway after the shooting.  One of the victims walked to Mercy Hospital for treatment, and two others went to Baystate Medical Center.

It was actually right outside of Baystate Medical Center where the second shooting took place. A person was shot just outside the emergency room.

Moynihan told 22News he believes the two shootings are related. Police are looking for a grey SUV in connection with that shooting.

The third shooting, which police do not think is related to the first two, took place on Armory Street.  About six rounds were fired in what police believe was a drive-by styled shooting.

When they arrived on Armory Street, they found shell casings around a car, but no one was in the vehicle at the time.

No arrests have been made and if you have any information police want to hear from you. The number for the Detective’s Bureau is 413-787-6355.
