CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – I’m happy to say that the latest “Captain America” comes close to finally getting the action adventure style just right.
As the super hero without super powers, Chris Evans bridges certain barriers, making him not only likeable, but an accessible man of action with a sense of humor.
He’s on the trail on the “Winter Soldier”, a lethal creation somewhere between “Robocop” and “The Terminator”.
When was the last time a marvel comic strip adventure featured a movie legend of Robert Redford’s stature as the sinister villain?
Scarlett Johansson bolsters the elaborate make believe by kicking lots of butt, while she waits for a more challenging acting role to come along.
By playing toss shield with his nemesis, “The Winter Soldier”, “Captain America” enhances the dramatic conflict. It’s lively, spectacular and quite entertaining.
By tweaking the formula, they’ve brought the character conflicts forward for today’s audience, while still providing nostalgia for the older generation.
And that should shield “Captain America” from grumpy reviewers who just might give the captain less than 3 stars.
Go, enjoy, escape reality for two hours and fifteen minutes while you’re having a delightful time.
