Man arrested for attempted murder in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A man has been arrested for attempted murder after he allegedly tried to choke his girlfriend Friday night.

Springfield Police Capt. Harry Kastrinakis told 22News that an argument between a man and his girlfriend allegedly lead to him grabbing her by the throat in an attempt to choke her.

Police said the man left the apartment on Pine St. after the argument and was arrested hours later after his car was spotted at his mother’s house on Olmsted Drive.

He is being charged with attempted murder and violation of a restraining order. He will be arraigned in Springfield District Court on Monday.
