HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Four occupants of an SUV suffered only minor injuries when the vehicle hit a traffic island and rolled over on Route 5 Northampton Street in Holyoke Thursday night. Traffic was blocked in both directions while police and wrecking crews cleared the 7:30 p.m. crash.
“It was a one-vehicle rollover accident. Minor injuries,” Holyoke Police Sgt. Philip McKay told 22News.
The SUV ended up on its roof on Northampton Street in front of the Walgreen’s near the intersection with Dwight Street.
Sgt. McKay said speed may have been a factor, “The car was coming down 141 toward Holyoke when it hit the island and flipped over.”
An investigating officer told 22News all four occupants got out of the wreck under their own power, and were taken to the hospital to be treated for cuts and bruises. No charges have been filed.
