Agawam school children honor their heroes

AGAWAM, Mass (WWLP) – Hundreds of Agawam school children recognized the heroes in their lives Thursday night at the Granger Elementary School Heroes Dinner.

It started as a writing project where students identified the  people they look up to, and the P-T-O recognized those people with Green Ribbons.

More than 525 people attended this first-ever event, including Ashley who was honored by her little sister Alexis.

“I help her with her homework.  We do sports together.  I help her with soccer and lacrosse, and all that.” Ashley Hurley told 22News.

The Granger School P-T-O’s President, Eric London, told 22News “It’s a way of Building community with the P.T.O. with the school and with the children.  And recognizing important people in their lives.  That’s kind of what we want to do.”.
