Mayor Sarno signs incoming Police Commissioner’s contract

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno has signed the contract for incoming Police Commissioner John Barbieri.

Mayor’s spokesman Jim Leydon told 22News Barbieri will have a 5-year contract that begins June 1st, 2014. His salary starts at $167,000.

At the end of each year, Barbieri will have an annual review with the mayor.

Current Police Commissioner William Fitchet is retiring this summer.
