NORTH ADAMS, Mass. (WWLP) – There is good news for Verizon Wireless customers in northern Berkshire County, as the carrier has activated a temporary cell phone tower following days of outages.
Customers of Verizon and other cell phone carriers have been dealing with a lack of service since Sunday morning, when two communications towers collapsed on Florida Mountain in North Adams.

Verizon spokesperson Mike Murphy says that a “Cell-on-Wheels” temporary mobile tower was brought in on Sunday afternoon, and following two days of work getting everything set up, activated the tower just after midnight Tuesday.
Customers in northern Berkshire County now have access to voice, 3G, and 4G LTE service, Murphy says.
He added that they are looking forward to the construction of a permanent tower to replace the damaged structures.
