Special election day in Westfield

WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Elections for governor and U.S. senator are still months away, but people in Westfield are going to the polls Tuesday to fill a vacant seat in the state House of Representatives.

Democrat John Velis and Republican Dan Allie are competing for the 4th Hampden District house seat, which became vacant after longtime Rep. Don Humason (R-Westfield) was elected to the State Senate.

The district includes all precincts in the city.

Polls in Westfield opened at 7:00 A.M., and will be open until 8:00 P.M.

You can get the results tonight on WWLP.com and on 22News at 11.

Whoever wins Tuesday night will not have long to enjoy his victory, as the seat will be up for grabs again (along with all the other seats in the Legislature) in November.
