Police looking for clues after man killed by train

CHESTER, Mass. (WWLP) – The person who was struck and killed by a train in the western Hampden County town of Chester over the weekend was a 23 year-old town resident, state police say.

According to a news release sent to 22News by State Police Media Relations, troopers are still looking into the death of 23 year-old Jacob Stiles.

State police say that the crew of a passing Amtrak train had contacted police Saturday evening after seeing Stiles’s body along the tracks near Lower Prospect Street.

It remains unclear when Stiles died, as no train crew had reported hitting him, and there was no train there when police arrived on Lower Prospect Street. Police are also trying to figure out why Stiles had been on the tracks.
