Plymouth police officer killed in motorcycle crash

PLYMOUTH, Mass. (WWLP) – The Plymouth Police Department lost one their own Tuesday afternoon, after a 17-year veteran police officer died in a motorcycle crash in Plymouth.

Plymouth Police confirmed Tuesday night that Officer Gregg Maloney died during a motorcycle accident. Officer Maloney was 43-years-old and had been with the department for 17-years.

The Boston Globe website, and television stations WCVB and Fox 25 indicated that Plymouth Police had confirmed that the accident happened on Samoset Street in Plymouth.

Boston NBC Affiliate WHDH-TV reported that police aren’t releasing any information about the circumstances of the crash, but it is known that no other vehicles were involved.

The scene was closed for several hours while officers investigated the accident. The officer’s motorcycle came to rest 500 feet from where the crash occurred.
