Gov. Patrick pledges to reopen North Adams ER

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. (WWLP) – Berkshire Medical Center has applied for a license to operate the North Adams Emergency Department. However, if approved, the doors won’t immediately open.

Governor Deval Patrick sent 22News a statement regarding Tuesday’s meeting on the North Adams Regional Hospital.

Gov. Patrick states that the Department of Public Health must approve the license for Berkshire Medical. Then it will take 7 to 10 days to reopen the services in North Adams.

A.G. Martha Coakley and other lawmakers are working to move the process along quickly. Nurses and patients were given 3-days notice that the hospital was closing, making it a difficult transition for hundreds of people.
