Car and recycling truck crashed in Springfield

INDIAN ORCHARD, Mass. (WWLP) – One woman was taken to Baystate Medical Center Monday morning after her car and a recycling truck collided on Berkshire Avenue in Springfield’s Indian Orchard section.

Dennis Leger, aide to the Springfield Fire Commissioner, told 22News that the accident happened near the corner of Berkshire Avenue and Champlain Street.

A viewer sent 22News pictures of the accident, and the effort by firefighters to get the driver out of the car, using our Report It feature.

Leger told 22News that the woman was taken to Baystate Medical Center, and is expected to recover from her injuries.
