Shots fired in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) — Neighbors became concerned this morning when they heard six gunshots in their Maple High Six Corners Springfield neighborhood.

It was soon after 5:00 Sunday morning when police questioned passersby on Dexter Street. The officers found bullet casings to confirm what neighbors had heard.

Police Captain Harry Kastinakis told 22News, no one had been hit by the gunshots and no one was arrested.

Police Lt. Robert Moynihan said witnesses believe someone in a red car passing through Dexter street fired the shots. Police never did find the car or the gunman.
