WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – For the past 21 years the Westfield Boys & Girls Club has benefited from a road race that gives runners the choice of the distance they’ll run.
600 runners were at the starting line Sunday to participate in either the 5K run or the half marathon.
Grace Gorman of West Springfield considers the event a family affair with a personal goal.
She said, “My mom and I are doing the 5K together and my dad does the half, and I decided to run it in my Godmother’s honor, because she’s getting a mastectomy on Tuesday.”
Organizers hoped to raise at least $30,000, with every dollar helping programs at the Boys & Girls Club.
