Police searching for a Holyoke shooting suspect

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Holyoke Police are searching for a 23-year-old Holyoke suspect who allegedly shot a 16-year-old boy at 569 South Canal Street on March 23rd.

According to Lt. Jim Albert, police are asking for the publics help to locate 23-year-old Michael Santiago, aka Mexico. Santiago is considered armed and dangerous, and is wanted on multiple warrants.

Lt. Albert said Santiago is wanted for assault & battery by means of a dangerous weapon (handgun), a home invasion, and an armed assault in a dwelling.

Santiago is also wanted for discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, which is part of the investigation of a shooting incident on South Canal Street in Holyoke that left a 16-year-old with a bullet to the head.

This suspect is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. If you encounter Santiago you should call the nearest Police Department via “911”.
