(WWLP) – A ruling by the National Labor Relations Board could have a huge impact on college athletes. The board ruled in favor of players at Northwestern University, who hope to negotiate with school officials while being represented by a union.

In some sports such as football, Division 1 college athletes can receive full scholarships, as well as money for room and board, and even books. Yet college sports is a multi-billion-dollar industry, and some athletes have argued that they are not being fairly compensated for the money that they bring to their schools.
