Porn images appeared as child watched TV

ST. PAUL, MN (KARE/CNN) – Caillou is a cartoon that helps children discover and learn new things, but one mom the cartoon was interrupted with graphic adult images.

“I came back in and saw that my daughter was watching porn,” said Samantha Green.

Green is a Comcast customer. She and her daughter were watching the show via the company’s on demand feature. Green stepped into the kitchen to grab some water. When she entered the living room she was surprised.

Green said, “I froze up for about a second and thought ‘oh my gosh, what is my daughter watching?’

When she called Comcast to report the problem, she said the customer service representative blamed her for the issue.

“They suggested that maybe my box was old and that I need to reset my cable box at least once a week in order to prevent it from happening again,” said Green.

So she took her concerns to the company’s facebook page. A representative responded in part: “I’m extremely sorry; I have been unable to duplicate this issue.”

Meanwhile, her daughter, who loves books, is curious. Green says that her hope is that no other parent has to go through what she has. She says her daughter is curious about the images she saw.

“I don’t know if I can say on TV the answers to the questions that she’s asking me. I’m hoping it’s something that she’ll get over,” said Green.

KARE 11 reached out to Comcast via facebook, e-mail and by phone to learn what the chances are that something like this could happen to someone else. Also, we asked Comcast if this is a problem they’ve experienced in the past.

“Clearly this isn’t the type of experience we want our customers to have, and we have apologized to ms. Green for any inconvenience this may have caused. Our engineers are conducting a thorough investigation to determine what may have happened,” Comcast said in a statement.
