BOSTON (AP) — Gov. Deval Patrick says “my heart and my condolences” go out to the families and colleagues of two Boston firefighters killed in the line of duty.
Lt. Edward Walsh and Firefighter Michael Kennedy died Wednesday afternoon after becoming trapped in an apartment building fire in Boston’s Back Bay.
Patrick said the “terrible tragedy” is a reminder to be grateful every day “for the brave men and women who put themselves in danger day in and day out to keep us safe.”
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who lives in the Back Bay, said he extends “my deepest sympathies and condolences to the Boston Fire Department and the families of our brave and selfless firefighters who gave their lives for our protection and safety today.”
