CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A $30 instant ticket is coming to a convenience store year you next month. Massachusetts’ highest priced ticket ever will have a top prize of $15 million.
The prize payout for World Class Millions will be just over 80%. That’s the highest payout percentage in Massachusetts instant games.
“Connecticut has them already so I’m sure it’ll go like hot cakes. Because you can win more,” said Jennifer Dufour from Ludlow.
Massachusetts is the 14th state to offer a $30 instant ticket. As the saying goes, everything is bigger in Texas; they’ve offered a 50 dollar game there since 2007.
“It’d be nice to give as a birthday present or an anniversary present. I think it’s going to go very well. We do very well with the $20 tickets. A lot of people will complain in the beginning but they’ll go right for them,” said Carl Roy who owns the Country Trading Post in Chicopee.
But for those who only occasionally pick up a ticket here and there, the 30-dollar price might be a little more than a splurge.
“I’m not much of a gambler and so it wouldn’t entice me to spend that much money on a lottery ticket. It’s just a piece of paper until you win,” said Thaddeus Nowak from Wilbraham.
It’s estimated the game will generate 125 million to 150 million dollars in sales — those profits are returned to Massachusetts cities and towns.
