Property owners son arrested in Montague barn fire

MONTAGUE, Mass. (WWLP) – Montague Police have arrested a 22-year-old man for allegedly burning down two historically significant barns in Montague Wednesday morning.

According to Jennifer Mieth of the Dept. of Fire Services, a fire started early Wednesday morning at 16 Hatchery Road in Montague. Two historically significant barns were destroyed and the modular home on the property was damaged.

Police arrested Cody Lee Adams for setting the fire. He is being held on $25,000 cash bail. Mieth said Adams is the son of the person who owns the Hatchery Road property.

Adams will be arraigned Thursday morning in Greenfield District Court.

Montague Center Fire Department, Montague Police Department and State Police assigned to the Office of the State Fire Marshal are investigating the fire.

Power lines were reported down in the area around the time of the fires, which happened around 2:00 A.M.
