1 person trapped after 2 car accident on Rt. 5

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Holyoke Firefighters were called to Route 5 Tuesday evening to free a trapped victim of a 2 car accident near the dinosaur tracks rest stop.

According to Holyoke Fire Capt. Anthony Cerruti, the accident was between a Volvo sedan and a Ford box truck around 2:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Holyoke Police Lt. Jim Albert told 22News that one of the victims was taken to Baystate Medical Center with serious injuries.

The driver of the sedan took sometime to get out of the car. He was tended to on scene by HFD and AMR crews, and then later brought to an area hospital.

Holyoke Police were blocking off part of the roadway while they investigated the accident.
