Crews called-in after gas odors detected in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – There were reports of natural gas odors, but no leaks were found in two different locations in Springfield Tuesday morning.

Dennis Leger, aide to the Springfield fire commissioner, told 22News that the odors were reported shortly after 5:00 A.M. at 271 Carew Street outside Mercy Medical Center, and on Hampden Street in downtown Springfield.

According to Leger, Columbia Gas crews took readings in both locations and no gas leaks were found.
