44 packets of heroin found in Granby arrest

GRANBY, Mass. (WWLP) – A complaint about a woman spending too much time in a convenience store bathroom led Granby police to the discovery of more than 40 bags of heroin.

Granby Police Sgt. Gary Poehler notified 22News that Sarah Aiken, 25, of Ware is being charged with possession of a Class A substance, following her arrest Monday evening.

According to Poehler, just before 8:00, police were called to the Cumberland Farms store on West State Street, on a complaint about a “suspicious woman” in the bathroom, who had been there for a long time.

Poehler says that officers spoke to clerks in the store, who pointed out Aiken and Constance McGrail, 25, of Ware, who were both waiting in line. Officers then talked to the two women, and found allegedly that Aiken was carrying 44 bags of heroin.

Aiken was arrested on a charge of possession of a Class A substance. McGrail and a third person, Bryce Chrabaszcz, 22, of Ware, are being charged with knowingly being where heroin is kept.

Granby officers, were assisted by South Hadley police, Massachusetts State Police, and the Holyoke police K-9 unit.
