Police search river for missing Greenfield woman

GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The search for a Greenfield woman who’s been missing more than three weeks entered a new phase on Thursday night.

Greenfield Police and Firefighters launched two boats to search for Rebecca Streeter who disappeared from her home February 25th.

The boats went in the water early Thursday evening near the Montague City Bridge, where the Connecticut and Deerfield Rivers join.

It’s the first time the weather’s been warm enough and the river low enough to make it safe for searchers.

Sgt. Daniel McCarthy told 22News, “We’ll be checking the edges of the river along the shallow points of the river, for any signs of a possible person.”

A State Police Helicopter was in the air helping to co-ordinate the search on the river. Police plan to continue the water search for Rebecca Streeter, but they didn’t say when.
