Minutemen to face off against the Volunteers

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – After 16 years of staying home, the UMass men’s basketball team has a berth at the Big Dance and they’ll play their first game of the NCAA tournament Friday afternoon.

The number 6 seed team is in Raleigh, North Carolina, preparing to take on the number 11 seed Tennessee Volunteers.

The Volunteers beat the Iowa Hawkeyes 65 -78, Wednesday night, to win the chance to face the UMass Minutemen.

The game starts at 2:45 Friday afternoon. The winner will play against either the Duke Blue Devils or Mercer Bears on Sunday.
