“Justice for Ayyub” claims to have new evidence

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The group “Justice for Ayyub” says they’re not giving up their fight. They gathered with members of Arise for Social Justice in Springfield Thursday to talk about new evidence.

They claim Ayyub Abdul-Alim was arrested on false gun charges in Springfield back in 2011, then had a gun planted on him and was asked to become an informant.

The group claims they have evidence to prove it and it’s important the community comes out to support him at trial.

Vanessa Lynch of “Justice for Ayyub” told 22News, “When there’s a big group of people and there’s that community support and solidarity I think it reminds the jury and the judge that people are watching and people are interested in justice and doing their job properly.”

Ayyub goes to trial on March 10th.

22News called the District Attorney’s office for comment but did not hear back by news time.
