WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – West Springfield is preparing to go to arbitration with MGM Springfield. Representatives from both sides met on Wednesday, but didn’t reach a deal.

MGM needs to sign surrounding community agreements with West Springfield and Longmeadow before it can be awarded a casino license.

West Springfield Mayor Ed Sullivan told 22News it was a “good conversation” and “good meeting.”

The arbitration process starts on Friday and lasts for about a month.

MGM has already reached agreements with six communities.
