(WWLP) – The Better Business Bureau is warning of a new phishing scheme targeting Netflix subscribers.
The scheme directs users to a fake webpage which resembles the real Netflix login page, where they are told their account has been suspended. The user is then told to call a fake customer service number, and directed to download “Netflix Support Software”, which gives the fake representative full access to the user’s computer.
The Better Business Bureau has three signs to indicate you are being schemed:
- First, the phone number offered is not the real Netflix number.
- Second, the false web page will be a pop up.
- Finally, the fake representative will want to login to your computer via remote software.
