SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) — Private contractors, hired by the Springfield Water and Sewer Commission, will be cleaning and inspecting the sewer main on Main Street from Lyman Street to York Street, beginning Wednesday, March 19th, at 7:00 A.M.
The work is being done as part of the long term assessment program to evaluate the condition of sewer pipes within the collection system.
Contractors will be cleaning and inspecting approximately 600 feet of pipe per day. The Water and Sewer Commission expect the work to last approximately four weeks. Working hours will be Monday-Friday from 7:00am to 4:00pm.
The proposed work is not expected to affect private property or interrupt sewer service. However, sections of street parking on Main Street will be closed off to secure the areas where the work is being performed daily. “No Parking” signs will be posted the day prior for areas being affected. Although there will be some shifting of traffic while work is being performed, the Commission said they expect traffic impacts to be minimal.
