HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – The fourth-annual Walk for Wishes at the Holyoke Mall took steps Sunday to make certain that children with serious medical problems would have their wishes come true.
Many Western Massachusetts families took the symbolic walk to help the Make a Wish Foundation raise money to make those special wishes become reality.
Tracy Bessette of North Adams and her daughter Meghan told 22News they never miss this supportive walk.
Tracy said, “Meghan had her Make a Wish in 2010; she’s on her third pacemaker right now and we were able to go to Disney in December of 2010 and since then we came to all the events to pay it forward, so that other kids can get wishes the way Meghan did.”
Mass Appeal host Ashley Kohl was master of ceremonies.
In the 27 years of its existence, Make a Wish in Massachusetts and Rhode Island has granted 6,000 wishes to children with illnesses that have put their young lives in jeopardy.
