LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – It’s become a tradition that the Sunday before the Holyoke St. Patrick’s parade, St. Mary’s Parish in Longmeadow holds its annual Shamrock celebration.
Irish music has always played well at Shamrock celebration since St. Mary’s parishioners began saluting Irish traditions during the St. Patrick’s season coming on the eve of St. Patrick’s Day.
As parishioners pointed out to 22News, you don’t have to be Irish to celebrate the season.
“We just have a good time here, there are a lot of real Irish people here and people like me, whose Irish for the day,” said John Rapalus.
What a day it was at the St. Mary’s Academy auditorium. A lot of wearing of the green and delicious food the Irish hold dear especially around St. Patrick’s Day.
