Westover crew sent on mission to Guatemala

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A Westover Air Reserve Base crew is back from a humanitarian mission to Guatemala, in which they delivered everything from a school bus to pallets of corn.

A C-5 from Westover landed in Guatemala City on March 9, with a crew of 11 people aboard.

According to SSgt Kelly Goonan of Public Affairs for the 439th Airlift Wing, the cargo included the bus and an ambulance, both of which will be used by Mayan villagers. Also aboard were medical supplies such as wheelchairs.

The crew returned to Westover two days later.
