About Miss Western Mass:
Dating back to 1921, Miss America is the country’s oldest pageant-and while it may have started as a bathing beauty contest, it has evolved into something much more. The Miss America Organization is the worlds leading provider of scholarship money for women, making over $45 million available to its contestants throughout the country each year. This organization relies heavily on community service and academic achievement, and its participants are all young women rallying to make a positive change in their communities.
The Miss Western Massachusetts pageant is a local pageant within the Miss America system. The pageant consists of 5 phases of competition: Private Interview, Talent, Evening Gown, Lifestyle and Physical Fitness in Swimsuit, and On stage question. The winners of the pageant go on to compete in the Miss Massachusetts pageant for the opportunity to represent Massachusetts at the Miss America Pageant. Each contestant competing works towards their own personal community service platform as well as raises money for the national platform-the Children’s Miracle Network.
