blarney blowout police

(WWLP) – This past weekend’s “Blarney Blowout” in Amherst resulted in the arrests of more than 70 people. Police officers were dressed in riot gear as they tried to control the large crowds. Four officers were injured over the course of the day, as some members of the crowd allegedly threw bottles, cans, and rocks at them.

Some UMass students, however, say that the police had gone too far with their crowd control tactics, using pepper spray, among other things. A group of students planned a protest on campus Tuesday to speak-out against what they call police brutality.

We want to know what you think: were the police justified in their actions, or were some people the victims of brutality? Make your voice heard in today’s 22News Interactive Internet Poll.
