Last snow chance until next winter?

AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – There is the small chance that this Wednesday night into Thursday is our last round of snow, but we can’t rule out more snow storms for at least another month and a half.

Tuesday was the warmest day in two months for western Massachusetts. Temperatures in the 50s up and down the Pioneer Valley got people all over Northampton’s Look Park in the spring mood.

“It’s lovely, I could take this weather everyday. I’m ready for the snow to be gone,” said Kathleen Golaski from Florence.

A lot of snow melted Tuesday thanks to a March sun that’s higher in the sky and days that are getting increasingly longer, but just because these snow piles are going away doesn’t mean we’re done with snow until next winter.

“It’s got to be the last one. Hope I hope I hope,” said Dana Pearson from Whately.

“Oh yes, I’ve seen it even in May, but they don’t last long,” said Pearson.

A typical March gives us almost 9 inches of snow and believe it or not we haven’t had any so far this month. We also get snow in April too…about an inch and a half.

However, for those of you who don’t like snow there are some bits of good news: Snow chances during the second half of March are much lower than the first half of the month.
