CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The annual Catholic Appeal got underway Tuesday.
A kick-off event was held Tuesday morning at Lorraine’s Soup Kitchen in Chicopee.
This year’s appeal will help fund local fuel assistance and food programs for the needy. Bishop Timonthy McDonnell told 22News the Diocese also launched a new volunteer initiative to mark the first anniversary of the election of Pope Francis.
“We’re asking people to consider not only giving a contribution but to contribute their own time, their own talent as a volunteer at one of the agencies that are supported so that those agencies which have need for more help to find that help in willing hands,” Bishop McDonnell told 22News.
