Mayor’s cousin arraigned in OUI case

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – The cousin of Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse was in court Monday, charged with being under the influence of alcohol while driving the mayor’s city-issued car.

Nicolas Duclos was arraigned in Northampton District Court Monday morning on charges that also included speeding, driving with a suspended license, and driving without authority.

According to Morse, both he and his cousin had been at an event in Northampton during the early morning hours Saturday, when he realized that both his car keys and his cousin were missing. The mayor says that he called police and found out that Duclos had been arrested, and that his car had been impounded.

The mayor said that the whole situation has left him feeling “betrayed and disappointed.”

Duclos is due back in court on Friday.
