CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A longtime public servant is calling it a career.
Hundreds of family, friends and colleagues gathered inside the Castle of Knights in Chicopee on Sunday night to honor the career of Ernest LaFlamme.
LaFlamme has spent more than 40 years as the treasurer of the city and has logged more than 50 years as a public servant.
On Sunday night, Rep. Richard Neal, Senator Gale Candaras, Mayor Richard Kos and Sherrif Michael Ashe were among the many people who gave speeches and shared stories about LaFlamme as a colleague and friends.
22News asked LaFlamme what stands out in his mind about his long career.
“I think it’s the people who have elected me for the last 50 years that stand out for me. They’ve appreciated what I’ve done and I’ll always appreciate them because it’s been a long and good road to go down,” said LaFlamme.
Laflamme told 22News it was an honor for him to serve the city.
