Balloons released in tribute to Luke DeMarco

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – There was a touching tribute on Sunday for a little boy who touched the lives of many.

Luke DeMarco was one of five children between his two parents. He was born healthy, but then diagnosed with a rare liver cancer that claimed his life.

Not without a fight and not before Luke’s story of survival rallied his family, friends and even strangers from around the globe.

His parents told 22News they are so grateful to the hundreds of people who showed up at the Kiley Middle School in Springfield Sunday to release balloons into the sky, in memory of Luke.

“For me, I’m going to appreciate all the little things. Like with my other two boys. Just enjoy every day and not take anything for granted, and try to do everything in Luke’s memory,” said Megan and Joseph DeMarco.

Many of the people wore shirts and carried photos of Luke. A benefit for Team Luke will be held on March 22nd at the Wyckoff Country Club.
