FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (WWLP) – A Massachusetts-based business is closing hundreds of its stores.

The national office supply chain Staples is based out of Framingham. By the end of next year they said they will close 225 stores, which is 10 percent of their total number of stores.

Staples says the change will make the company more cost- efficient because nearly half of their sales are generated though their online stores, which is something one online shopper told 22News he understands.

“The immediate gratification maybe, you see it right online, you can see the price, and you know you make your choices right form your desk seat and it just seems a lot easier and you don’t have to spend the time walking or driving around, so it just seems a lot easier,” said John Kujawski.

Staples expects the change to save the company about 500 million dollars a year.
