SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The MAAC-achusetts is back in Springfield and businesses are taking it all in this year.
That’s because this will be the last year the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference will be held in Springfield.
22News was there on Thursday as the Monmouth women’s basketball team took on Niagara in the first round game. The owner of JT’s Sports Bar says a lot of people travel into the area with the teams and it’s an economic boost he’ll miss having.
“With 22 teams, men and women, thats quite a few students, family and friends that come down, and see Springfield that’ve never seen it before, it’s definitely something that’s a positive boost for business,” said Keith Makarowski.
Monmouth won Thursday’s game with a score of 66-62.
