AMHERST, Mass. (Mass Appeal) – Western Massachusetts native Emily Dickinson was famous for her impressive talent as a poet. She was born in Amherst and studied in the Pioneer Valley, but achieved national recognition for her work. She traveled breifly during her lifetime, but she returned to Amherst to live the rest of life in the same town she was born.
