(WWLP) – President Obama will be in Connecticut and the Boston area on Wednesday. His first appearance, a speech at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, will focus on his effort to raise the federal minimum wage to $10.10 per hour.
The current federal minimum wage is $7.25 per hour, but it is higher than that in Massachusetts and several other states.
President Obama says that an increase in the minimum wage will help the economy by increasing the purchasing power of consumers.
Some business groups oppose an increase, saying that raising the minimum wage may end up costing jobs, and hurt small business in particular.
We want to know what you think. Should the federal minimum wage be increased to $10.10 per hour? Vote in today’s poll, and leave your comments below.
