Springfield overnight shooting and car accident

SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) – In Springfield, police are searching for a shooting suspect.

Police Captain Harry Kastrinakis told 22News there was a shooting around 12:20 Sunday morning in the area of 45 School Street in downtown Springfield.

Police say a 2002 Saturn was shot at, then caused an accident at the State and Chestnut Streets intersection.

He says the driver of the Saturn ran away. There’s no word on how the driver of the other car in the accident is doing.

Kastrinakis said they’re now searching for the driver of the Saturn and the suspected gunman who is described as a Hispanic man with a red hooded sweatshirt.
